8、 “ the +比较级+than+ ”句型之中的 the 的前面，即“He is by far the cleverer than her. 他比她聪明得多”这句话是错误的;但可以用于“ the +比较级+(名词)+(of)”句型之中的the 的前面，即“Its by far the quicker to go by train.”是正确的。请看以下例证：1. 葛传槼编著英语惯用法词典(新修订本)(时代出版社 1958年9月初版) p245：(2)“by far”可以用在属于superlative degree的词前面，不可用在comparative degree的词前面;如可以说“This

9、is by far the best of the five.”，不可说“This is by far better than that.”，(但用了“the”便可以把“by far”用在前面;例如“This is by far the better of the two.”。) (笔者注：葛教授既然说但用了“the”便可以把“by far”用在前面，为什么不直接把“This is by far better than that.”改为“This is by far the better than that.”这句与陈老师所说“ He is by far the cleverer than h

10、er.”非常相似，还要“多此一举”，另外举例“This is the better of the two.”呢?请看下文的分析!)(3)“by far”可以用在属于comparative degree的词后面：“This is better by far than that.”。但这种用法不很普遍。2. 刘旭宝主编英美语惯用法实用词典(西南交通大学出版社1993年5月第1版) p426: by far则多用于最高级。p427: by far, much等都能用于比较级和最高级的任何一方。(例) This is far (or much) better than that. 这时不用by far

11、This is by far the better of the two. 用the+比较级+of这个结构时，即使是比较级也可用by far。3. 陈敦金主编的英美语惯用法词典(增订版)(福建教育出版社2002年3月第3版)p449：far 和by far都可以作比较级(用far比较常见)或最高级(用by far比较常见)的强化修饰语，但位置不同。两者均可用于肯定句，不用于否定句。注意下列句子中的far 和by far的位置：She is (by) far the better actress / the better actress by far / .ar.This is (by) far

19、r too much.他酒喝得太多了。从零开始学英语：so far的用法归纳1. 表示“到如此之距离”，可视为far的加强说明，此时可根据情况选用时态。如：My feet are very sore from walking so far. 走了这么远的路，我的脚非常痛。My mother lives so far away that we hardly ever see her. 我母亲住得那么远，我们很少见到她。2. 表示“到如此之程度或范围”，根据情况选用适当时态。如：I can only help him so far. 我只能帮他到这种程度。Was it wise to push t
