She captures the subtleties of the urban experience, pointedly from a womans perspective, and the travails of daily endeavors during the Japanese occupation, with humor and insight. Read her work youll find her opinion of pleasure

4、of life is wonderful. This essay first of all gives a brief introduction of Eileens background and life and her achievements. Later gives some information about her family which played an important role in her life. Then two of her works and the movie about her are introduced. The paper aims at impr

Eileen is a modern Chinese writer, whose real name was Zhang Ying. Actually, on one hand, her grandfather is Zhang Peilu

7、n, a person who is an influential official in Qing court .On the other hand, Eileens grandmother is the daughter of Li Hongzhang, another very important minister in the same age.As a girl in this imperial family,she was not get too much attention, the reason why she is so popular is her outstanding

8、literary achievements. During her 75 years lifetime, she had finished large amount of works. Genres of her work including fiction, prose, screenplays, and literary treatise. Meanwhile, many people consider her letters as a part of her attainments. In some degree, most of her works still had much lit

9、erary values. Furthermore, her works Eighteen Springs and Chide Love have influenced a lot of people who is in both her age and modern times.1.2 Eileens childhoodEileens childhood is unfortunate. Her parents divorced when she was young, her father even told people that he would kill her .Then she ra

10、n away and went to her mothers home. However, her mother went to the United Kingdom in a not very long time. In 1939, she was admitted to the University of Hong Kong to study literature. She also received a qualification to study in University of London, but she had to give up the opportunity becaus

11、e of the ongoing Pacific war. Unfortunately, Hong Kong fell into enemys hand just before graduation; Eileen had no alternative but to returned to Shanghai.1.3 MarriageFurthermore, Eileens marriage was another tragedy. The marriage between Eileen and Hu Lancheng never brought her happiness but memori

12、es of sadness.Another great blow is the creations of literature cannot get societys acknowledgement in those days. Eileen had to travel to strange places where shed never been.1.4 DeathEileen passed away in her apartment in California, a city of Rochester Avenue, Westwood, in 1973 .She just gone awa

The work was published in the magazine on the Santa Maria Girls she was only 12 years old. This is the first one and is al

14、so the unique fiction. In 1933, St. Marys Girls School magazine published her first essay named Fade. Hong Kong fell into enemys hands in 1942. Eileen had to go back to Shanghai, she wrote critic films to the Times such as Between-law, The Opium War, Autumn Song, dark cloud cover on, flowered, sprin

15、g youth, by Queen of the stage etc. She also wrote China Life and clothing (Chinese life and Fashions) for the Germany English magazine called Twentieth Century. Eileen published her classic Eighteen Springs, Fallen .The former was published in 1943, and five years later another classic was publishe

16、d.2.2 AchievementsDuring Eileens 75 years of life, she had completed more than 30 classic Essays .Furthermore; there were also more than 20 articles manuscripts .Eileens works are divided into nine volumes. The total number of her works has not been precise figured. We only know that its never lack

17、of scriptures in Eileens writing.The genre of Eileens work includes essays, fiction, reviews etc. Eileen was a writer had gained great achievements both in the quantity or quality in literary. Her favorite novels not only popular among young people, but also deeply attract the majority of women. 3.

18、The marriage of Eileen3.1 Eileens marriage was some kind of tragedy in some degree.3.2 First marriage The encounter of Eileen and Hu Launchings was a miracle. He was deeply attracted by her works, and he also understood the true feelings deep inside Eileens heart. He went to see her in her place but

19、 she refused to see him. However, she changed her idea at the second morning and then she visited him at his place. They fell in love with each other during the short period of drinking a cup of tea. He understood her, admired her, encouraged her, praised her and helped her. Meanwhile, she demonstra

20、ted her deep love to him, the only lovers in her mind.They were happy at the very start, but Hu launchings real status buried the root of tragedy of their love. Eileen told him:” Even if you just come and go, I will accept it!” Eileen didnt care what the future will be; she was only caring about the

21、 love from him. Although they spent a short time together, it gives her a huge impact. They were encountered in 1944 and three years later they separated. Its hard to say whether their breaking up was good or bad for her, but after saying goodbye to Hu, Eileens creation was no doubt to getting into

22、the low ebb. Fortunately, this was not the end of creation of Eileens literary. Eileen had no ability to change the situation. She told Hu Lancheng that she will fade away. However, not only the Eileens heart withering, her writing talent to shock the world was deeply entrenched either. Despite the

23、long years to come, she never did write as desolate as Golden Lock this poignant article again. Eileen was on the list of cultural traitor criminal history published in 1945, which more or less for the reason of Hu Lancheng.3.3 Second marriage Eileens second husband was an American. In 1956, Eileen

24、got married with Alice Lai, a leftist writer in American. It is reassuring that they accompanied each other untill Lais death in 1967.4. Two works of Eileen4.1 Fallen In Fallen”, Eileen created an image of hardship of love .The marriage in it succeed ultimately but experienced twists and turns. The

25、story happened in Shanghai, 1940s. Bai liusu married a prodigal son and they had to divorce. She was deeply hurt when she went back to her parents home and lived with them. Her brother and sister looked down upon her evidently. It seems that the only way should be taken into consideration was remarr

26、id. By Grand Xus introducing, Liusu got to know Fan Liuyuan, a person returned from British. They fell in love with each other at the first sight. Liuyuan went to Hong Kong for official affairs. Then Liusu get Xu Tainans invitation when Tainan went to Hong Kong. Finally, Liusu and Liuyuan meet again

27、 in there. However, there was no plan to get married in Liuyuans mind, then Liusu back to Shanghai but unwilling to make a compromise. Liuyuan asked her to come to Hong Kong in the phone. For the driven of love, Liusu back to Hong Kong and cohabited with him. The Pacific war came soon, because of Ja

28、panese occupation of Hong Kong and Liuyuan could not go to United Kingdom, they made a wedding ad in the newspaper for the help of all the people in Hong Kong. Liusu and Liuyuan finally get into the marriage hall. Its not difficult to find that the image of Liusu just reflected something about the t

29、rue wishes in Eileens mind. Her ideality that would not come true finally was realized in her novel.4.2 Eighteen springs In her another classic called” Eighteen Springs”, Eileen wrote these feelings that several young peoples not mystery experience but over and over again as beautiful and classical

30、as she can. The story is not the new one, either does the images. The difference is she can change these old things into a new level that all of her readers dont think its old. The words and situations, even all details that Eileen could make them alive. They are indispensable. As many readers have

31、pointed that if you read these words, you will find its easy to attract your attention, but if you are asked what exactly the beautiful is, its not a easy job anymore. In this novel, those earth-shattering historical events in old China is not something scaring, the love in troubled times let you kn

32、ow how and what to cherish. To everyones disappoint, the love ever deeply existed in everyones mind was just slowly desalted, and finally disappeared. And what disappeared at the same time was something called hate.5. The Movie” Eileen Chang”The whole movie plays the life emotion experience of Eilee

33、n Chang and her heart road process by the style of essay. Eileen passed away in America, in 8th, September, 1995. By choosing the sky in 10 years to play, the director finally realized his feeling knot about Eileen. He had paid several years to write and changed it for seven times and missed the sta

34、ge for three. Then ten years later, the movie finally was played on the screen.The movie never slides away the dispute person. In Eileens whole life, Hu lancheng was the person that cannot be got around but again to be most controversy one. His 4 times of marriage are 8 times in love make much fans

35、of Eileen hate him to the bone and think that the whole life out of count of Eileen result from his abuse of love at start but eventually leave her alone. In the directors eyes, Hu lancheng is a cute person to be loved, otherwise Eileen wouldnt love him. However, he was also a person that was easy t

36、o be hated for his falling in love with too many other women. He was the one who suffused abuse in love, but he was sincere to every. At least, he was sincere to Eileen.Another characteristic of the film is that the famous Dan acted as Eileen and showed conflicts, the magnanimity, the fear deep in h
