9、tion Doris Lessing was born in1919, in Kermanshah, Persia (now Iran). Her father is a famer. In 1939 she married Frank Charles Wisdom, and dissolved in 1943. Then in 1945 she married Gottfried Anton Nicholas Lessing, and dissolved in 1949. And she has 3 children named John (first marriage, deceased)

10、, Jean (second marriage), Peter. She has worked as a nursemaid, a lawyers secretary, a hansard typist. And she worked as a Parliamentary Commissioners typist while living in Southern Rhodesia, from the year 1924 to 1949. Her reward: As a woman writer, she got many rewards for her great achievement.

11、In 1971, she won the Booker McConnell Prize for her five short novels. And she earned the award Prix Medici for her work being translated into French in 1976. In 1981 The Golden notebook made her win the Australia State Prize for European Literature. In 1982, she won the German Federal Republic Shak

12、espeare Prize. For The Sirian Experiments, she got W. H. Smith Literary Award. And in 1986, she got the Palermo Prize. In 1989, for The Fifth Child, she got the honorary degree, Princeton University. In 1989, she also got the honorary degree of Harvard University. And for her lifes work she got Davi

13、d Cohen British Literary Prize, in 2001. She was awarded Asturias Prize for literature, Prince of Asturias Foundation, in 2001.And later, she won Nobel Prize for Literature in 2007,when she was 89 years old. Lessings early life was turbulent. She was mostly influenced by her father. And her mother h

Although she is no longer young, she is still full of hope. She is still strongly longing for l

27、ove, though she already marched into the old age. Though she is older now, her graceful bearing still saves. She is just like a chrysanthemum which is blooming alone. From the book, we may see Sarah was still an attractive woman whose stature was exquisite. The other people often suppose she is just

28、 40 years old. Compared with women in the same age, she is self-confidence and reasonable. Her husbands death left her to experience a sad period. But afterward, she went through. And then she stood up. And She walked with incomparably graceful steps to move toward the old age. And in her heart, get

29、ting older is the rule of everyones life. The old age is not fearful. Senile is also not such a terror what all people thought as. She may summarize the life optimistic to an old woman. Obviously, we called that Sarah was a granny, only for her old age. Her point of view is not old, so was her sembl

Day and night, she writes for the newspaper, works in the publishing house, works for the theatrical troupe, and also works as an extremely low free-lance writer. We may

34、 say that the life was not easy when she was young. However, she was always living stubbornly.Stephen was Sarahs good friend. She cares much on him. Stephen is also another writer of this play. In Sarahs view, the friendship is also a very important aspect. This is also an onus manifestation of Sara

35、h. She paid much attention on her friend Stephen. She communicated with him, and supported him mutually. Stephens love view compared with Saras was long lasting though frail. 37、 the rejection from Molly. This time, Stephens spirit broke down. He lost the courage to live on. Finally and sadly, he chose the suicide, and left this world. Comparatively, Sarah must be much braver. If she is as weak as Stephen, then perhaps when her husband died ,she must have committed suicide.

She never bends down to the uneasy life.2.1.3Her young heart to life and loveWhen she prepared the play Julie Varian, She was moved by Julie Varian deeply. She apprec

39、iated Julies talent and Julies will to pursue love. But she has more sympathy to Julie. In the novel, the writer express in the following words “She (Sarah) is strongly conquered by Julie. Not only she has been conquered by Julie, the entire messenger bird theatrical troupe was conquered by Julie.”

40、Sarah was a woman full of the following quality: she has responsibility; she is good at reasoning thinking; she has maturity.In the play, Julie has fallen in love with Paulo, Ramey successively. However, at last she became the leading role of the tragedy. Sarah did not want to be similar to Julie in

41、 love, because she understood the restraint. When they rehearsed the play, Director Henry, actor Bill and Andrew, were all attracted by Sarahs onus charm in abundance. And they were all unable to avoid falling in love with her. In Sarahs eye, Bill was abundant and vital. He is like the bright sunlig

42、ht. From the very beginning Sarah also thought that she might fall in love with this young people. Bill wrote a hot loving letter to her. Sarah was deeply shocked by this. It showed that Bill was attracted by her fantasy. But then she urged herself not to hold this idea in the mind. Because from the
