Industrial Revolution.In 1769,the French army engineer Cournot produced the first car driven by steam engine.In 1867 German engineer Otto(1832-1891)successfully developed the worlds first four-stroke piston gas engine.On January 29th,1886,the Patent Office Mannheim in Germany approved the patent for three-wheeled automobile,which was invented by Karl Benz,1885.This day is known as the birthday of modern automobile.Automobile is generally composed of four basic sections including engine,chassis,body and electrical equipment,Engine Engine is a power plant.Its function is to produce power by combusting the fuel,and drive the automobile through the transmission system of the chassis.1 Gasoline engine and diesel engine are the most common engines.Gasoline engine is made up of the crank link mechanism,valve mechanism,fuel supply system,cooling system,lubrication system,ignition system and starting system.The way of ignition in diesel engines is compression-ignition,so diesel engine has no ignition system.,Engine Classified by ways of piston:piston engine can be divided into reciprocating piston and rotary piston.Classified by the air intake Category:Internal combustion engine can be
