Pride and Prejudice傲慢与偏见,111001315梅晓芳111001318王寒冰111001321徐 爽,The writer:Jane Austen,Jane Austen was born in Steventon,Hampshire,where her father was a rector.She was the second daughter and seventh child in a family of eight.The first 25 years of her life Austen spent in Hampshire.She was tutored at home.Her parents were avid readers and she received a broader education than many women of her time.On her fathers retirement,the family moved to Bath.Austen started to write for family amusement as a child.Her earliest-known writings date from about 1787.Very shy about her writing,she wrote on small pieces of paper that she slipped under the desk plotter if anyone came into the room.After the death of her father in 1805,she lived with her mother and sister in Southampton and moved in 1809 to a large cottage in the village of Chawton.Austen never married,but her social life was active.She was connected with the middling-rich landed gentry that she portrayed in her novels.,background,This story takes place in England in the early 1800s.During the time knownas the Regency period.During this period,most families started becoming wealthy,the book reflects that society was divided into the newly wealthy families and older wealthy families.,Characters relationship,content,Pride and Prejudice is a humorous story of love and life among English gentility during the Georgian era.Mr Bennet is an English gentleman living in Hartfordshire with his overbearing wife.The Bennets 5 daughters;the beautiful Jane,the clever Elizabeth,the bookish Mary,the immature Kitty and the wild Lydia.Unfortunately for the Bennets,if Mr Bennet dies their house will be inherited by a distant cousin whom they have never met,so the familys future happiness and security is dependent on the daughters making good marriages.Life is uneventful until the arrival in the neighbourhood of the rich gentleman Mr Bingley,who rents a large house so he can spend the summer in the country.Mr Bingley brings with him his sister and the dashing(and richer)but proud Mr Darcy.Love is soon in the air for one of the Bennet sisters,while another may have jumped to a hasty prejudgment.For the Bennet sisters many trials and tribulations stand between them and their happiness,including class,gossip and scandal.,There are three different marriages presented in the moive,Analysis,Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story,but in my opinion,this book is an illustration of the society at that time.She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.,In modern society,although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly,the concept of“money determines everything”is still rooted in some peoples mind.A lot of parents try hard to interfere with their childrens marriages.Education background,possessions and jobs remain the main reasons that may influence ones marriage.Marry for money is still a big problem in our society,Pride and Prejudice is belonging to the human weakness.Fighting with the shadow of our heart,we should overcome our shortcomings and not judge a person by his appearance and social status.,Summary,l never wish to be parted from you from this day on.,Thank you,
