PPP Teaching Methodology,As Palmer has pointed out,there are three processes in learning a language receiving the konwledge or materials,fixing it in the memory by repetition,and using it in actual practice until it becomes a persona skill.,13英语2班 朱夏葉 何雯颖 13英语1班 李晟怡 陆菲,The goals of teachers using the PPP Way:,Students should be able to use the language for self-expression to express some new words and sentences.Giving students practice in writing,speaking and more exposure to language.Providing a paradigm for grammar and form-focused lessons.,The three stages in English teaching,Presentation(呈现)Practice（操练）Production（运用）,Presentation,At the presentation phrase,the teacher presents the new language items planned before,such as new words,phrases and sentences with typical grammatical structures.The teacher explains and encourages a lot,wishing to arise learners learning enthusiasm.Focous on accuracy,Practice,When it goes to the practice phrase,the class starts to move from the practice under teachers control to the practice under teachers guidance and exploitation of the whole texts if necessary.The teachers give learners opportunities of using the target language,doing mechanical drills,dialogue,exercise,etc,controlling the framework of the language used.develop accuracy,Production,Then at the last phrase of production,the learners are encouraged to use what they have studied and practiced to do communicative activities,they should pay attention to the meaning of language itself rather than the accurate use of the language forms.The teacher motivates learners to perform free tasks,learners build their own knowledge on real comprehension and experience and obtain a feeling of fulfillment.develop fluency,Teacher:more than one role,In the PPP model,the teacher serves as a demonstrator during the presentation stage.During the practice stage,the teacher may be an instructor,manager or monitor.During production,roles such as prompter,resource and evaluator may be most appropriate.,When an activity is succesful,All students participate,not just a few.Students are motivated,eager to speak and share.Students English is reasonably accurate and fluent.They make use of new expressions.,Potential problems with PPP,Students may in fact give the impression that they are comfortable with the new language as they are producing it accrately in the class.However,what often happens a few lessons later is that students will not be able to produce thelanguage correctly.Students will often produce the language but overuse the target structure so that it sounds completely unnatural.Students may not produce the target language during the free practice stage because they find they are able to use existing language resources to complete the task.,Presentation Practice Production,teacher centered student centeredteacher controlled teacher coordinatedindividul work group workattention accuracy attention fluency,As all we know,the traditional 3P model has been always widely applied in junior English teaching;however,in recent years,it has been criticized by many people because it emphasizes language form but ignore language use.,
