境域主要涉及福建南部、广东全部、广西东部及南部，位于欧亚大陆的东南边缘，处于低纬。北有五岭为屏障，南濒南海，多山少地，河网纵横，受着强烈阳光的照射和海陆季风的影响，具有优良的气候条件。北回归线横贯境内，由于受惠于季风的调节，这里仍然是山清水秀，植物繁茂，一年四季郁郁葱葱，呈现出一派典型的亚热带和热带自然景观，被誉为南国风光。Located at the South-east of mainland 文化景觀背景,用“四季繁花，热带风光”八字概括，特征树有棕榈类的大王椰、假槟榔、大王棕、酒瓶椰；有藤本的炮仗花、夜来香、紫藤、簕杜鹃、绿萝；有耐阴的兰花、蕉类、芋类、蕨类、葵类；另有榕树、荔枝等。Seasonal floral effect and tropical style is the main idea.Feature treesPalmsRoystonea babylonica,石材和理石与江南及北方园林不同，石材有广西湖石、广东黄腊石和英石、闽南花岗石、海南珊瑚石、台湾咕咾石等。岭南理石不向上堆叠，而向水平展开，分为置石法、堆石法、挂壁法、塑石法。置石法为黄腊石、湖石和花岗石，分平置、抛石和埋石三法。石身置于土上，如随意抛置而成，故云抛置，如金茶花公园；石根入土半截以下，称为平置，如湖里公园；石根超过一半没入土中称为埋石，如南山寺。堆石法多为用于湖石或珊瑚石，如汕头中山公园海礁石山、海口五公祠珊瑚石山、台湾吴园咕咾石山。叠石法主要用于英石的壁山做法，称挂壁法，最富岭南风韵，如广州宾馆三叠泉，可用于室外室内，前者如广州流花湖公园茶室的壁山，后者如白天鹅宾馆石室中的壁山。塑石法用灰泥和水泥仿石，节省石材，现代公园里儿童游乐区的古洞探险几乎都用塑石，最好当属闽南塑鼓石，如厦门南湖公园。Stone walls,岭南园林設計特征-广东园林風格為主流Lingnan Garden Design Characters-Guangdong Style is the main stream,水Waterscape,山Landform,岭南园林非属山性，园山有几种：一是 崖瀑潭局 中的悬崖，如清晖园的九狮山和凤来峰；二是 鼓石潭局 的鼓石岛，如万石植物园的万石湖中真鼓石和南湖公园中的塑鼓石；三是 海礁局 的礁岛，如佛山梁园中的龟石和湖心石；四是一般的 堆山，如海口五公祠中的珊瑚石山。岭南园林较少以土堆山，即便是现代公园也是如此，多因水为水，因山为山，如桂林园林中的真山水，几乎不改造。Lingnan gardens mountain idea:Cliff with waterfall,Lagoons,Skerry,Stacking
