For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these5 Relative volume of profileA test specimen with a length of at least l = 500 mm1) shall be sealed at one end so that it is watertight. The total volume Vtot of the hollow space inside the specimen shall be determined by filling the specimen with water and then measuring the content (seefigure 2). The volume Vref and the surface area Aref of the reference cylinder shall be calculated from the mean internal diameter d1 as described in clause 4 and the length l of the test specimen. For undated references the latest edition of the publication referred to applies.Vrel =whereArefEN 523Steel strip sheaths for prestressing tendons Ð Terminology, requirements, quality control3 Apparatus and accuracy± A possible test device is shown in figure 2± The procedure to determine the relative volume of profile (Vrel) shall allow for an accuracy of 5 %± Vernier calliper (accuracy of 0,1 mm)± Micrometer gauge (accuracy of 0,01 mm)4 Internal diameter, height of profile and wall thickness of sheathsThe internal diameter, d1, and the height of profile, h, shall be determined by means of a vernier calliper using the specimen described in clause 5. Measurements shall be taken at both ends of the specimen in two directions at right angles to one another (see figure 1) before the specimen is sealed. The mean values shall be calculated from the values obtained.The wall thickness shall be measured by a micrometer gauge at least at four different points.Aref (= 3 d1 3 l) is the surface area of thereference cylinder (in cm2);Vref is the volume of the reference cylinder (in cm3);Vtot is the volume of water in the specimen (in cm3).Figure 1.
