Greek tale of Pygmalion even though there is no character called Pygmalion in the play.Bernard Shaw must have had good reasons for giving his play this title.Refer back to page 28 for the story of Pygmalion,then work out the similarities and differences between the play and the story.,They are both about a man who“makes”a perfect woman.,Both the women benefit:Galatea by becoming alive and Eliza by learning how to behave in polite society.,In the story the artist admits that he has fallen in love with the statue,but in the play Henry does not admit that he loves Eliza.In the story the artist and the statue get married and live happily together,but in the play they do not get married and appear to part.In the story the artist changes from not liking women to loving one,but in the play
