They have found widespread applications in a great many fields. Today, computer can even work in a very intelligent way. For example, they can play chess and even beat world champion. So some people fear that one day, computers may be so intelligent as to replace human beings. However, in my opinion, this will never happen. There are generally two reasons for me to draw this conclusion. First of all, human brains are far more complex and efficient than computers. For instance, a human brain has billions of cells while even the most advanced computer today contains only about millions of components. Besides, these human brains cells can work together far more efficiently and intelligently than computers. Computers perform better than human brain only in areas, which require mechanical skills such as mathematical calculations. Secondly, no matter how complex a computer is, it needs instructions or software written by human beings in order to carry out its work. Thus the operation of a computer is strictly controlled by human beings. Without such written instructions, a computer cannot even perform the simplest calculation. To sum up, computers are, after all, a complicated machine invented and controlled by human beings. In the foreseeable future, it cannot be as intelligent as human being, let alone replace human brain.
