Book Review of The Secret Garden秘密花园读后感.doc
Book Review of The Secret GardenHow do you feel when you see a garden filled with various flowers and trees growing, with fragrances permeating, birds singing and sun shining? Perhaps you will get a better mood and become much more hopeful about life. The book The Secret Garden also displays us some virtue through the change of a garden from deserted to vibrant. Mary, a bad-tempered, crabbed and wayward girl for lack of parental care, is sent to her uncle Mr. Craven after the death of her parents. Lonely and bored as Mary is, she finds an abandoned and mysterious garden under the guidance of a bird Robin. Overwhelmed by the magic of nature and infected by the happiness and optimism of country boy Dickon, Mary gets considerate, kind-hearted and optimistic. Later, with the help of the twice-born Mary, Colin, Marys cousin, once perverse and grumpy like the hot-tempered Mary, turns into a positive guy, and so does his father Mr. Craven.Immersed in this fascinating story, I cannot help dreaming of strolling through the magical garden which simply contains niceness rather than sorrow and despair. Indeed, can my dream come true? Of course YES. Why does the secret garden the miraculous possess the power to change everyone that enters it? In my perspective, it symbolizes the truth, the goodness and the beauty hidden in the bottom of ones heart. The reason why Mary behaves as a self-willed girl formerly is that her parents and all the servants are careless of her, under which circumstances she was shaped into a disgusting child. Nevertheless, such personality, formed by the outer world, is not her nature. Instead of the tough surroundings, the niceness in the secret garden has both arouses her kindness and hope toward human nature, and ignites her passion for life, which results in her optimism. And the same goodness alters Colin and Mr. Craven as well. Life is not in lack of beauty, but of eye, as the old saying goes, what we are short of is our positive attitude towards life. Only if we seek for beauty consciously, can we change thoroughly into a guy overflowed with sunshine. “If you use the correct way to look at it, you will find the whole world is a garden”, I cannot agree with the author more. There was a time when I was down because of my poor English ability, neglecting the reward that efforts will pay; I was indulged in the disorientation of my life, of my future, until one of my friends reminded me of the sanest adage that future is bright with twisting road. Enlightened at that moment, I altered my attitude towards English. Remembering five words today, though my change seems too little comparing to the others, I have already made great progress, havent me? It is without doubt better than no words memorized. Inevitably, since the transformation of my attitude, I have gained the so-called positive energy, realizing that the whole world is a garden.A good book is the one that can awaken peoples soul; beyond doubt, The Secret Garden is of this kind. Go and have a look, you will renew yourself.
