Little women,The writers introduction,Louisa May Alcott,The author of Little Women,was born on 29th November 1832 at Germantown,Pennsylvanian,pensilveinin America and died in 1888 at the age of 56.,Author,Under the influence of her writer father,she gained interest on writing at an early age.In 1860,her novel and poetry were published on The Atlantic for the first time.8 years later her most famous book,Little Women,got published and quickly became a best seller.,The Little Women grew up during the American Civil War.And Mr.March,the father of the main characters in this book is a very religious man.He was once wealthy,but because of his religious beliefs,he loses most of his money by helping friends.This is why the little women grow up in poverty.Their fathers religion leads him to leave the family and serve as a chaplain in the Union Army during the Civil War.,Background,Mrs.MarchMegJoBethAmy,Introduction,The important person-Mrs.March,Mrs.March is a pretty great mother.She is the authority of the family.She attaches importance to the education of the girls.Because of her selfless love and strong faith,her daughters can face up to the hard life hopefully and confidently.Her attitudes toward the lives teach her daughters that there must be something more important and necessary than fortune and status,which will accompany them till the end of life.,Meg Meg is beautiful and well-mannered,not enticed by the money.She runs the household when her mother is absent.Meg also guards Amy from Jo when the two quarrels,just as Jo protects Beth.Meg is employed as a governess for the Kings,a wealthy local family.Because of the genteel social standing of her family,Meg is allowed into society.However,after a few disappointing experiences,Meg learns that true worth does not lie with money.She falls in love with Mr.John Brooke,Lauries tutor,whom she marries.,Beth,Beth is a quiet,kind,considerate and shy young woman.She also helps her mother with the housework.She prefers to be homeschooled and avoids most public situations.At the beginning of the book,Alcott describes her as a sweet girl with a round young face and brown hair.She has a close relationship with Jo,although they have the different personality.But,finally,when her mother is in Washington caring for their father,Beth comes down with scarlet fever.,The youngest sisterAmy,she is interested in arts.she always wants to marry a rich man,and regard her successful marriage as her obligation to her family.She is dissatisfied with the shape of her nose and she insisted that it was Jos fault for Jo once“dropped her into the coal hod.”When Amy saw the real works of artists,she gave up her art,because she thought she didnt have the talent in art.,Amy,Jo,Jo March,the second daughter of Mrs.March,is my favorite character in this book.She is outspoken and has a passion for writing.Her nature often gets her into trouble,but her heart often pushes her into acts of kindness.She is free and easy,and she has steadfast determination to struggle for her dream.,Lesson,This speech perfectly delivered the nature of a complete woman who was not willing to bend over men but meant to stand with them,while her sisters were all dreaming about a bright and comfortable life as a pretty wife.At this early age,the wish and belief of Jo was so strong that she showed no compromise to the so-called mens world.When this spirit was shown on a little girl,it symbolizedthe bud of feminism which was just reaching the peak of the first-wave at those days.,
